LCUL Scholarship Programs

The Louisiana Credit Union League annually awards scholarships to the Southeast CUNA Management School in Athens , Georgia. Established in 1971, the Southeast CUNA Management School is the most comprehensive, college-level training opportunity available for southeastern credit union professionals. Students take a series of courses during each eight-day session for three consecutive years. Each session provides an opportunity for students to master a challenging curriculum, participate in hands-on projects, and exchange ideas with fellow attendees. Graduates of the Southeast CUNA Management School consistently reach top leadership positions in credit unions and are prepared to handle the challenges credit unions face in human resource management, operations, marketing, financial analysis, risk management, and much more.

Scholarships

Edgar L. Fontaine Memorial Scholarship -- is named in honor of the first president and CEO of the Louisiana Credit Union League from 1947 to 1989, Edgar L. Fontaine. During his tenure with the League, Fontaine organized numerous credit unions throughout the state. Recipients of this three-year scholarship to the Southeast CUNA Management School in Athens,

Georgia receive 100 percent tuition for the first year and 50 percent tuition for the second and third years.

Southeast Regional Credit Union Schools (SRCUS) Scholarship -- The SRCUS Scholarship, awarded on the basis of future potential and involvement in the credit union movement, exists to encourage credit union personnel to become more informed, competent employees. Recipient(s) of this annual scholarship to the Southeast CUNA Management School in Athens, Georgia, receive a minimum of 50 percent tuition for the current year. Recipient(s) must reapply each year.

Travel expenses, not awarded as part of the scholarship, are the responsibility of the recipient. Tuition reimbursement based on early bird registration fees; late fees if applicable are the responsibility of the applicants

Qualification

The scholarships are open to all professionals from Louisiana Credit Union League-affiliated credit unions. Applicants applying for the scholarships are required to provide the following:
