Correspondence Programs

Self-study certificate programs offer convenient training at your own pace and time for everyone in your credit union - including management, staff, and volunteers! The courses offered in these programs provide the opportunity to train your staff with credit union specific language and case studies. Available in either paper based books and exams or online, you are sure to find a solution to meet the educational needs of your credit union through the variety of programs offered.

CU Advance
The key to creating high performing employees! Announcing the new CU Advance program, a competency-based learning program developed by CUNA Center for Professional Development. Learners take courses based on their own personal competencies, knowledge, training, and experience. Take charge of your career path and choose the courses that help you fill your competency needs.

STAR
Self Study Courses offers 37 practical, job-specific training courses for staff members in all areas. STAR is flexible and requires no travel time or days out of the credit union. Courses can be taken at the credit union at a time most convenient to you.

MERIT
Self Study Courses offers 36 practical, credit union-specific training courses for management and supervisors. Merit is flexible to accommodate all schedules and requires no travel time or days out of the credit union.

VAP
Self Study Courses offers 36 quick-reading courses that provide the core knowledge that directors and volunteers need. All courses are written for directors and cover topics such as, Credit Union Fundamentals, Board of Director and Supervisory Committee Fundamentals, Leadership, Marketing, Planning, and Regulatory Compliance.

VLP
Self Study Courses Credit Union leaders operate in a complex environment of laws, regulations, electronic technology, and finance. The Volunteer Leadership Program meets the challenging educational needs of credit union management and board volunteers.

RegTrac

Self Study Courses designed for credit union employees need to understand the regulations that impact their specific jobs, not everyone needs to know everything about every regulation. RegTrac addresses these needs with two levels of training:
Compliance Achievement Award:
Level 1 is designed for noncompliance staff and anyone interested in a general discussion of the regulations. Level one provides: a general overview of the regulations, examples showing how regulatory requirements affect various staff positions and daily credit union operations, common violations and penalties for noncompliance, lists of record retention times and products affected by the regulation.

Compliance Expert Certificate:
Level 2 is designed to meet the needs of staff directly responsible for credit union compliance and anyone interested in the specific requirements of the regulations, this material provides the information in Level One plus: a detailed discussion of the regulations, in-depth case law and legal decisions, examples of required forms, lists of marketing issues to consider and audit checklist items for each regulation.

CEP
If you’re a self-starter who is motivated to rise above the crowd, the Certified Executive Program is a perfect fit for you and your professional goals. The program’s self-study, college-level courses put you in charge of your future. Certified Executive Program courses lead to the Certified Credit Union Executive (CCUE) designation, the Certified Financial Services Professional (CFSP) designation, and five Specialty Certifications in lending, marketing, financial management, human resources, and compliance. The American Council on Education (ACE) recommends all CEP courses for college credit. As a result, you’ll likely be able to earn college credit while you advance your career. And, if you already have college credits from previous degree programs, you may already be on your way to fulfilling some of CEP’s educational requirements.
